Device Sessions Analysis

This week I decided to take a look last week’s (October 30th-November 5th) sessions based on devices. Desktops still had the most sessions with 918 sessions (62.32% of the sessions). Mobile was in the middle with 534 sessions (36.25% of the sessions), and tablets were at 21 sessions (1.43% of the sessions).

Interestingly enough desktops were still the highest rated of the sessions. The number of sessions from tablets did not surprise me because most people would still rather use a desktop than a tablet to do go on the internet. However, I thought that in 2016, a year where everyone is glued to their phone, that mobile sessions would have taken most of the sessions. With people on the go all the time or waiting for appointments, people are always looking up information on the internet. I guess most people would rather do extensive research on a desktop than a mobile device in order to get a bigger picture. It shows that even though mobile and tablets are still very popular, the most sessions and transactions still come from desktops.

Another Attempt

Well I took the exam again today. I passed with a 62/70. That is 88%. I now having an individual qualification in Google Analytics. I will use the skills I have gained through my studying to further my career in web analytics.

As mentioned in a previous post all I had to do to improve was get in a routine of getting out of bed early and studying earlier in the day. I also really analyzed all the questions, which is an especially important skill to have for an analytics career. I would always look to eliminate answers and just see what makes the most sense. Through hard work and studying, I have achieved the individual qualification.

A Trend?

Last week I was talking about a possible trend of whether or not weekends had the least amount of sessions compared to other days of the week. The lowest session from last week was on October 29th with 480 sessions. This date fell on a Saturday. The second lowest was on October 23rd with 621 sessions. This date fell on a Sunday. The lowest of all the week days was on October 28th with 698 sessions. This date fell on a Friday, the day that starts the weekend.

So as you can see, yes, there does seem to be a trend in weekends having the smallest amount of sessions. The other four days of the week did not show a simulation. Last week the highest amount of sessions was on a Tuesday with 825 sessions, where as this week, it was on a Thursday (October 27th) with 887 sessions. Interestingly enough, this week’s Tuesday (October 25th) had 860 sessions, which is still higher than last week’s 825 sessions. This week did a lot better than last week. I put the images of both this week and last week below in order to show the contrast in sessions.
