Acquisition & Behavior Data

Looking at the acquisition charts, there is a lot of interesting data for 9/18/2016-9/24/2019. The sessions seem to have increased from the first to the second day.
  • ·        80% of the searches so far have been organic searches.
  • ·         Direct searches have made about 16.2% of the searches.
  • ·         About 3.7% of the searches have been referral searches, and there is nothing on social searches.
  • ·         Then at its high point of September 19th when there were 702 sessions, the sessions have been steadily decreasing.
  • ·         The low point was on September 24th with 517 sessions.

There is also important data for the behavior overview.
  • ·         Like the acquisition sessions, the page view increased from the first day (9/18) to the second (9/19) and decreased after.
  • ·         It went from 710 to 1,001 page views.
  • ·         The page views go down slowly after until it reaches an all-time low of 551 page views on Sunday September 24th

Gender and Age Report

Well now I am exploring Google Analytics with Ash. I am connected to the account and looking at all of the different demographics and learning to make observations. The two I chose to focus on today were age and gender. I have the data set for the last month. The date range is August 22nd 2016-September 22nd 2016.

With gender, there seem to be slightly more males then females on the website. In the last month, males have had 5,065 people on the website. There have been 4,409 females within the last month. This is 53.46% of the people being males and 46.54% of the people on there being females.

The age demographic is a little bit more interesting.  Young people have visited the site more than other age groups. People ages 18-24 have a number of 3,133 people visiting the site. Then ages 25-34 have 2,365 people visiting the site. After that it decreases by about 1,000 for ages 36-44.

Nonprofit Organization

In addition to using my textbook and the official Google Analytics study guide to study, I will also be working with a nonprofit campaign. This will help me apply what I study in a real world study in order to understand the material better. Also, knowing certain terms and facts are one thing, but if you can apply it to a real business, it can show how well you know the material. I look forward to being able to apply what I am learning to an actual campaign.

The campaign I will be working with is ASH(Action on Smoking & Health). This is an organization that combats the use of tobacco. The organization has been active since 2000 in over 100 countries. I am glad to be applying my skills in Google Analytics towards this organization. Below is a link and screen shot of the organization.

Introduction

Well for those of you who have read my Search Engine Marketing blog posts about getting my certification in Google AdWords, I will now be doing blogposts about my progress towards my Google Analytics individual qualification.

Like the Google AdWords certification, a score of 80% is needed to pass. However, there is only one exam for the Google Analytics individual qualification. I took the exam last night to just to see what the exam is like. Like the Google AdWords certification, this will be a challenge, but a challenge I look forward to.
